A Brief Break From Food and Film

I know this is a food and film blog. I know you don’t come here for politics. That being said, I’m still going to post this video because I care too strongly about this year’s election to not promote the only candidate who I feel has the judgement and integrity to lead our country in the direction it needs to go. Please watch this video and consider Senator Obama’s message.

If you are a staunch Republican and a regular reader of my blog, please don’t hold my views against me. As long as you can logically defend your views, then I have no problem with us agreeing to disagree.

Other site news: I’m going to see the new Pacino/Bobby DeNiro movie Righteous Kill tomorrow afternoon, so I should have a review of that up soon. Also, I watched The Band’s Visit the other day and really enjoyed that. I’m going to try to get a review up, but if I can’t find the time, go ahead and check it out. I highly recommend it.

  1. You think Obama has good judgement? Rev. Wright, Ayers-(A terrorist), Rezco. Oprah learned that Rev. Wright was crazy and got out of that church a long time ago. It took Obama 20 years and public outcry to cut ties with that “mentor”. His judgement is spotty at best. I also don’t think putting a political video on a food and movie review blog was a good idea. It may give people an opinion about you before actually reading anything else.

  2. Thanks for your comment.

You’re certainly entitled to your opinion, however I do disagree with it. If someone is going to think that I am less qualified to review a restaurant or movie because I’m a democrat then odds are we don’t share a similar world view and they won’t agree with much of what I have to say about anything.

As for the common republican attacks you bring up, I suggest you read these articles from various anti-smear websites:

    On Obama and Ayers: http://www.truthfightsback.com/smear/253/

    On Obama and Rezko: http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/rezko_reality.html

As for Obama and Wright, I really just don’t think it’s an issue. Barack believes in the separation of church and state, so even if he did share Rev. Wright’s beliefs (which he doesn’t), I’m confident he wouldn’t let them influence his policies.

  3. Three weeks after being elected, Obama has announced he will not be raising taxes, presumably because the world economy is in the crapper. Is it worse than it was November 3? Nope. So I guess his little calculator telling me I would be getting $1600 from my too-rich neighbor’s tax bill was just a way to buy votes. Like all other Chicago ward-healers, you and I are forgotten once the votes are counted. I guess this is the change you believe in???
